ARRIVAL AT THE DEVON HORSE SHOW, 5/23/2007
Today, the junior riders from Beacon Hill Show Stables arrived at the Devon Horse Show to school their horses in preparation for the equitation classes which begin tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. Unlike the junior hunters and the junior jumpers, showing in the Medal, Maclay, USEF Talent Search and the Washington Equitation classes at Devon is open to all that enter. The show is a big highlight of the spring horse show season because quite a few of the big name show barns from the northeast and southeast participate each year.
The show grounds are spread out over more than eight acres and the country fair includes speciality shoppes, tack stores, a Ferris wheel and a variety of places to eat good food. The show rings are decorated with attractive flowers and landscape plants and the stands provide ample seating for those wishing to enjoy the show.
The first time I showed in the equitation at Devon was in 2002, and I was one of the youngest juniors in the group from Beacon Hill. This will be my last time showing as a junior at Devon and I am grateful to have the opportunity to be able to show at such a great venue!
Catch up with me after the weekend for an update on the show!
Talk to you later.

speaking of which did anyone hear about the "kill hello kitty" teeshirts several riders from a big-name-trainer's barn were sporting at devon yesterday? everyone knows who THAT was meant for
what r u talking about?
well let's just say maggie macalary has a slight obsession with hello kitty things and always has at least a hello kitty back pack. so, at devon yesterday, several riders from {either Missy's Andre's or Frank's, you guess, i wouldn't want to ruin the fun} wore t-shirts that showed hello kitty with knives through it and said "kill hello kitty"
Maria,
can you recommend any physical exercises one can do to strenghten their muscles when not riding?
Congrats on your win today! You had a great course and looked great in the hack off. I have a video of your course and once it is loaded to the computer I will send it to you.
HUGE congrats on Ronnie Mutch at Devon!! You're amazing!

sorry. the other link didn't work. hope this one does.
what's with the whole beat maggie kill hello kitty thing? i mean really come on, she's just a normal person.
Congrats on your win on Friday!
kristin,
your videos are so neat! thanks for posting those!!
Hi Maria
I've admired your riding since Horsepower aired a few years back. Congrads on your recent success at devon!
i had a few questions;
do you have plans for riding after your junior career? will you train/work over in europe or the west coast(i've heard lots of opinions on that but wanted to know what you think).
also what is your typical day/week like? how many horses do you ride/train, how often do you ride, and do you take lessons/how often? I think it'd be a neat idea if you get the chance to do like a mini-vidio of your day at the barn:)
okay, since when have people been picking on Maggie? is she not liked or something? hah just asking.
And i agree with alina, you should do a video like that. put it on youtube or something.
And what kinds of things do you ACTUALLY do as a working student? Are you just riding horses or do you help with barn chores and such? Im not even a working student but i do a lot of that.
hope you respond!
Hi Maria, have you ever had a bad fall which effected your confidence? A few years back, my horse fell over me while cantering on a hack. I'll never forget that feeling of my horse dropping from under me, its scarey! Now I only canter if the ground is 100% level, I'm not even keen about cantering down a slope.

if you guys don't know maggie, or have never had a conversation with her, then don't make assumptions about her. if you know her and she knows you, say whatever you want, if you can back it up. from riding alone, maggie deserves a little more respect from the girls that post on here who ride no where near close to her level.
Maria, great job so far at Devon, youre having an incredible season, from WEF to Garden State, to Devon, and everything in between. good luck the rest of the year.
yeah i think the movie idea sounds great! just go through like a summarized day of what you normally do!!
hi maria!
i was just wonderring about how you financially support your riding. I know your parents pay, but do you make any money doing it? if so, how? my family doesn't have a lot of money, so it would be great if you could post some ideas on how to support riding and showing without the help of parents.
Maria,
Thanks so much for meeting my girls Kailey & Kristen on Saturday night. They were star-struck meeting you & Brianne!
Sorry that you didn't make the jump-off Saturday night, but congratulations on your other successes this Devon.
I'll be contacting your dad about where to send the girl's poster, and we'll send you a copy of the picture we took of you all.
Thanks again.
