THE HAMPTON CLASSIC 2007

Hi, everyone!
This past weekend, Beacon Hill Show Stables traveled to Bridgehampton, Long Island to the Hampton Classic. The artful ringside landscaping, the wonderful shopping and booths, the grass fields with natural obstacles and the auspicious Grand Prix Arena set the show apart from most.
One of my goals for 2007 was to participate in the Calvin Klein Show Jumping Derby held on Sunday, September 2ND. A Junior Jumper rider or Amateur Owner rider is required to place in the top thirty in a qualifying class, and Marga and I made the cut. The challenging derby course with sixteen fences included natural obstacles, an open water jump, a bank and double Liverpool. Marga and I finished the derby in fourth place and I received the Shalanno Style of Riding Award.
This week, all the equitation riders will lesson and prepare for the ASPCA East Regional Championship scheduled for Sunday, September 9, 2007, at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, New York.
Catch up with me later this week after the regional qualifier for an update.
Thanks for your continued support!
Talk to you later.
Maria Schaub

Hi Maria!

First, let me say what a wonderful blog you have going. It's great that you dedicate so much of your time to all these riders who just idolize you (including me).

I am an adult now, so I'm done with all my big eq days. You're nearing that point in your life, too. Of course, you will become a professional and I'm just an amateur. But we adults usually have to drop our riding because of balacing jobs, families, etc. I have two horses right now and the work and stress sometimes outweighs the fun. I would LOVE to find a competent young rider who wants more time in the saddle to hack my two horses. I don't want to pay a pro just to hack them, for goodness sake. Can you (or anyone on this blog) make any suggestions?

Thanks!

Maria,
Congrats at the last show! 4th is amazing! I can't wait to hear how you do at the regonials, but I know you will do great! Thanks so much for updating us about the Maclay. Could you tell us a little about what Frank does in your lessons before these Maclay Qualifiers to get you and the other riders prepared? That would be great! Again, best of luck!

To the post above mine, visit the other local lesson barns in your area. Watch some lessons and talk to the trainers. I'm sure there is a great rider out there who has great talent, but not enough money to own a horse and would love to hack your horses for you. Good luck with that too!

Congrats Maria! I was at the Hamptons and would have loved to see you ride in the derby, but unfortunately on friday I had a bad fall in the children's jumpers and now I'm missing two teeth, but congratulations and good luck this weekend!
